Mixed martial arts, or MMA, require dedicated training in order to compete. There are 3 vital aspects for MMA workouts. If you get these 3 training aspects down, you'll be able to compete. 1. Stand Up Training. Stand up consists mainly of boxing and Muay Thai style training. Basically, hitting and kicking. Practicing strikes and kicks is essential and often consists of the bulk of training for many fighters. You can train your strikes and kicks using a heavy bag. Utilize a long bag where you can perform low kicks. From there you can practice sparring with a partner, using proper pads for safety. 2. Ground Work. This consists of on the ground fighting, a position many fighters find[..]

Once the Heavy Weight Boxing Champion of the world was considered by all as the baddest man on the planet, an unstoppable human force without equal, those days have now come to an end. In the ancient world of hand to hand combat a new leader is emerging, evolving, and is set to become the most popular fighting form the world has ever seen. MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) has truly arrived and although it has not quite yet been crowned king the coronation is clearly just a few short rounds away. The primary difference between the two is that the MMA ring allows the use of the full human arsenal, meaning the hands, elbows, knees, feet, and body to both attack and defend oneself. I am the proud owner of an anti-library. I don't own any books that I have read. That's not to say that I haven't read any books. Quite to the contrary, I have read a mountain of them, but as soon as I get to the end of the last page, I either mail them to friends or simply throw them out. I believe that only unread books have value. Look at the book shelves of most any person and you will see all the books they have read. People buy a book, read it, and put it on the shelf like an ornament. People keep their books because it makes them feel intelligent to look at everything they have read. It's as if they believe that for every 10 books they finish and put on the shelf, they gain one[..]

Are you interested in mastering the art of Ninjutsu? I hear this from students all the time. The problem is that, many of these intelligent and well-intentioned people shy away from anything modern in their self defense practice - preferring to take the "classical route."   Unfortunately for them, in an attempt to master this powerful self protection system, they limit themselves to only training with the antique museum pieces of legend and lore. His training history consisted of 3 months in aikido, 2 months of karate, 4 months of kung-fu, 3 weeks of tai chi, etc., etc. This is what we call "style hopping"; going from one style to another. "What's wrong with going from style to style" some students say. Even Bruce Lee didn't believe in styles. He believed that styles limited one's true potential. One if the things that make a Mixed Martial Arts fight interesting to watch are the kicks. MMA is a multidimensional sport. Fighters have to learn to attack and defend at all ranges. They also have to learned to function while standing or on the ground. Kicks and knee strikes add a whole new dimension to a fight. Delivering a hard hook to the body causes pain and diminish the endurance of an opponent, kicking to the same location produces a greatly magnified effect. Kicking multiplies the options a fighter has to defend against. Is your opponent going to strike you with his hands, elbows, knees or feet? One of the big benefits this type of bag has over the older hanging boxing bag is the additional striking surface area. You can practice specific skills without a partner but[..]
